Everyone has heard of the famous Rio Carnival in Brazil. But did you know that Spain’s island of Tenerife hosts a hugely colorful carnival which is considered the second biggest in the world? In fact, some residents of this volcanic archipelago in the Canary Islands even feel that their carnival is better than Brazil’s annual extravaganza. In 1987 it entered the Guinness World Record Book as the largest gathering of people in an outdoor plaza to attend a concert — with more than 200,000 people.
