Arriving at Etosha Lodge after a long 6-hour drive from Windhoek, undertaken shortly after landing at Hosea Kutako International Airport on a flight from Johannesburg, this was a welcome, sumptuous abode.
Emanya features 20 luxurious chalets with modern en-suite bathrooms, each accommodating up to 40 people. The small number of guests means the friendly staff at the privately owned establishment pays particular attention to everyone. Each chalet even has its own dedicated table at the restaurant for dinner.
If you're really looking to get pampered, a foot massage area is set up to help guests unwind after a long day of exploration in the nearby National Park.
The lodge is located on a game-rich farm. A floodlit water hole within the grounds attracts various animals, such as black wildebeest, roan antelopes, zebras, and oryxes, who freely roam. A dining area overlooking the water hole provides a unique experience to observe wildlife while enjoying their excellent cuisine and drinks.
It certainly was quite a sight to see two ostriches racing by the grounds as I was enjoying dinner.
Early-morning wake-up calls are sometimes given by roaming animals. It's all part of the experience.
